Have you noticed how hard it is to choose the right clothes nowadays?
This is largely due to the plethora of options available, a problem our ancestors did not have. At least, it was not as big of an issue as it is today.
I have experimented with menswear, formal wear, streetwear, outdoor clothing, sportswear, workwear and military surplus gear; I have visited a zillion shops and bought from countless e-shops, new and second-hand. After decades of research and testing, my goal today is to help others benefit from my findings. I want my readers to be able to see through this immense chaos which is the clothing industry and immediately identify what is right for them.
First things first, I strongly believe everyone should get dressed using the Japanese concept called "TPO":
Time, Place and Occasion.
Being able to choose the right outfit for the right occasion is crucial, for not doing so will either make you feel too hot or too cold which could have dreadful health consequences.
E.g: you go out in winter without anything protecting your neck because you think it's too cumbersome; or not wearing warm enough layers for similar reasons. This will likely weaken your system which can in turn make you sick if you cross paths with someone that has a virus.
But the consequences don't have to be about health. They can be social. Not choosing the right clothes for the right event will make you stick out like a sore thumb. This is called a "faux pas" and it can be extremely uncomfortable.
E.g 2: you go to a music festival wearing a suit or to a job interview wearing joggers. People's glances and comments will make you want to hide in a mouse hole.
You may think that adapting 100% to the weather and the occasion is overkill and can sometimes look awkward or artificial; but I am here to demonstrate you can totally be "Stylish and Functional" at the same time, no matter the occasion -hence the name of the blog! My main objective is to reconcile both adjectives.

Chances are, you already have the right garments to choose from for the right occasion in your closet -but if you do not have everything you need and wish to complement your wardrobe, I am here to help you buy what is best for you, whether it be new or second hand.
This blog will not only guide you towards choosing the right gear for the right time and place, but will also help you identify what items and brands offer the best value.
I am French so I will try and include European brands (even French brands whenever I can) as often as possible but will be mentioning all kinds of brands. I will also touch on the sustainability topic which has played an increasingly important role in the way I approach clothing.
One last thing: my articles will primarily be about menswear but a great deal of my advice can definitely be useful for women. My significant other greatly benefits from my insights every day and I might even interview her or get her to write an article specifically touching on womenswear at some point in the future!
